And if you have a telescope, you may even be able to spot some of its four largest moons – Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto.
Last but certainly not least is Saturn, the sixth planet from the sun and known for its iconic rings. Saturn will be visible in the southeastern sky after sunset, appearing as a bright yellow dot. While it may not be as bright as Venus or Jupiter, its rings make it a unique and beautiful sight to behold. With a telescope, you may even be able to see some of its larger moons, such as Titan and Enceladus.
So why are all these planets aligning in the sky? It all comes down to their orbits around the sun. While each planet has its own unique orbit, they all roughly lie on the same plane. This means that every few years, they align in the sky, giving us a chance to see them all at once.
But don’t worry if you miss this particular alignment. The next one won’t be too far away, as these planets align every 20 years or so. However, it is still a special event that should not be missed. So mark your calendars and make sure to take some time to look up at the sky in the coming months.
